Yes, but much of the growth at MXIM was to come from communication ICs such as 20Gig Fiber tranceivers and wireless handsets. This market is not growing much now... and if Jack Gifford thought there was to be 25% growth soon, then he'd be hiring rather than in a hiring freeze where he can maintain profitability with current staff levels.

I like the company, along with ALTR and your others, but I think the chip companies have staffed to recognize that the growth of the past is not going to come back. If it does, then they will have to hire and train for it and they will be more cautious than they were in 1999 and 2000 to hire people they spend money on to train then send off a year later with an expensive severance package.
