This is a profound observation. We study and study and decide that
Intel is a low-risk growth stock, it grows 20 per cent YTY, misses the bar by 3 cents, and the wiseacres say "Its lost it!" and bail out. Nothing real has changed, we still believe, we know we should buy low and sell high, but when the opportunity arrives, most of us just can't do it. And, after calm is restored and the real long-term values are revealed, particularly the significance of Merced, we will curse ourselves for our timidity and lack of faith.
