I think Kerry is leaning on "fought for his country" because it's the only advantage he has, or thinks he has.

Cronkheit's suggestion, that Kerry embrace the "L" word, is probably good advice, but Kerry can't take it now, it would be another flip-flop.

I could write Kerry a great speech embracing "liberalism" -- talking about how great liberalism is, and how it's nothing to be ashamed of, but proud of. Etc.

But then, I think of myself as a liberal, in the classic 18th-19th century meaning. I am a John Locke-Thomas Jefferson-Adam Smith liberal. I'd love to see that word resume its true meaning.
