Hi Bob, Yes, last year's September number is large, but September is a 5 week month compared to July and August which are 4 week months. Showing the actuals in the table makes for "bumpy" data as opposed to the 3 month averages that SIA usually puts forth in their press releases.

As shown in the table, both July and August of this year were higher than 06 by 11.4 and 6 percent respectively. Aug was 21.5B for a 4 week month. Extrapolating that at that rate to 5 weeks would give us 26.9B.

The market for the number of chips keeps going up, but average selling price keeps going down. Tough to keep total chip sales going up in that kind of environment.
