A lot of people here seem to assume that terrorists are a bunch of inept cowards who will quit if we stand up and strike back at them. That’s a very dangerous assumption.

I think that is said for public consumption. The key thing is that we have to realize that we can't negotiate with them. Ever. They have to be killed or imprisoned when found, and we need an army of forensic accountants constantly finding and stopping their money supply. At the same time, we must do what we can to promote Democracy where possible in the region. Easy? No. Short? No.

It's going to be a long haul. But we really have no other choice.
