The flaw with this argument is that although we hear it over and over again, I don't know about you, but whenever I buy software (from Microsoft or almost anyone else), it seems to only get cheaper and cheaper...

This "threat" of pricing pressure once Microsoft "monopolizes" markets is just false, there is not one shred of evidence that this is true. Every new market that Microsoft has entered has only brought about lower prices. It is the Apples of the world that should be lowering prices. And what about Adobe? They "own" their market, and their products are very expensive relatively, but no one seems to be investigating them...

Lastly, you also forget to mention that there are a lot of other people (besides Microsoft) that have made a ton of money from the Windows platform. It is just that you don't hear them companining.
