Ar the risk of sounding like I'm defending police misbehavior...

After fifty years I recently got together with a high school pal retired from the Seattle police force. He related a number of stories, not the least of which involved the WTO riots.

I recall being the victim of police brutality on several occasions. They'd scare the living shit out of us and always confiscate our beer. I always suspected the evidence never made its way into official channels. Might have been laziness, but recording of our miscreant behavior never entered our Permanent Record. Still, our subsequent demeanor was modified, presumably for the better.

Over the years do good bed-wetters have increasingly interfered with a job not subject to perfect codification for every situation. Cops trying to perform their proper functions accumulate frustrations over time. It's a wonder more don't explode.
