Everyone was not looking for a blowout like they expected from CPQ
or JBIL etc.
When the blowout did not happen last quarter, expectations were decreased as evidenced by the stock price in the past 2 months which performed poorly compared with CPQ, IBM, DELL, most major Finance and Oil and Drug stocks.
All that was expected was for it to make its numbers..Thats enough for now. It will satisfy the street because..
a. Microsoft is a monopoly as far as operating systems on PCs are concerned. Not even the DOJ could change that.
b. Bill is no Dummy, this mess will be settled to Microsofts benefit.
c. Windows 98 will be out in a few months.....
d. So, portfolio managers are acumulating on any weakness

Stock may have a lower trading range for a while, or it may actually start trading higher sooner than you think because of the above factors.

This is a great company in a booming business!
