Curious essay. Some day, in the future, someone will be speculating -- What would happen if Jimmy Carter did NOT abandon the Shah and allow Ayatollahs to take power? Iran-Iraq war wouldn't happen, the Great Nuclear Terror wouldn't occur, the Peak Oil decline would have been gradual, etc., etc... I'm afraid to continue.
