Unfortunately, I fully expect gang wars to escalate in all the major cities along with a host of protection rackets to go with them, not to mention a lot of other unsavory shit happening to folks and to neighborhoods not used to living in it -- people are going to do what they think they have to do in order to eat and to survive, and there won't be enough cops around or prison space available to do much about it

And the main "protest" events aren't going to be 1968-esque "peace & love" passive resistance demonstrations this time -- they will be 21st-century kill-or-be-killed video game style death matches between what remains of the authorities and those who have nothing left to lose

Something along the lines of Soylent Green immediately comes to mind
