Per CBS: The new computers thus should help IBM boost sales. But analysts warned that despite new computers and stepped-up marketing efforts, IBM will be challenged to meet aggressive market-share goals -- raising the question of whether the company can actually unseat Sun as No. 1.

"A year before, they were nowhere in this market," Eunice said. "So for them to be in one in three server cages, I don't know if it's really going to happen. It would be Herculean task within one year."
