Folks, some things to ponder with regard to DISH's success, and long term outlook...
It's obvious that they have a sustanial debt load, therefore they need to move product to generate cash flow, as well as keeping recurring subs. One incentive that dealers have to ensure the reliability of their customers, is that all new subs must be a paying customer for at least 3 months in order for the dealer to receive their activation fee. This will help filter in a good customer base. Also, the current promo running - free install kit or $100 towards pro install is doing very well. As a matter of fact, they were out of install kits for a little while. That should give you a clue.. DISH's weekly subs numbers are beginning to beat Directv's subs numbers, which is something that has not been achieved since the start of the Dish Network. Alphastar is no longer broadcasting, Primestar's numbers are dismal and management is currently restructuring.....
DISH covers different niche groups..religious( Sky Angel)..Independent broadcasters..International programming..data services. The next biggest hurdle is to obtain rights to broadcast the NFL Sunday Ticket. This opportunity will not occur until next year..
In the short term, you may not see the big numbers. The long term goal is obtain recurring income from the programming service, that's where the money is. As long as these people keep the expenses in check, the long term prospects look good.. -Jeff |
