>>>1.47%. Insignificant. And what do they mean by "using" Java? I doubt that even
1.47% of organizations have a serious use for Java at this point.

"plan to test and deploy". Sure, ask any IS manager, and they will tell you that they
"plan to test and deploy" Java. They've been saying that for the last couple of years.
Talk is cheap. Java is sexy to talk about. Let me know when they have actually done
it.

"Of those currently using Java (that 1.57%) 52% are already rolling out applications
within their organizations". Huh? What are the other 48% doing? I thought they were
USING it? Isn't that the same thing as "rolling out applications within their
organizations? I guess the others are "using" it to play tic-tac-toe on their lunch
breaks.

"Although Java technology and the marketplace are immature"

Finally, some sense.

"there appears to be significant interest in it's use today"

Again, "interest", not actual use. <<<

Think about the number of firms that use Oracle, Sybase,
Infomix, and Computer Associates products.
They support Java hooks that allows you to develop client
apps to access their products. Why would it be such a
surprise that a large number of firms have already develop
Java client apps to interface Oracle DB?

Here is one data point, I know people who runs a small
IT shop here in the silicon valley. They use
Java exclusively for the client application development.
They have more jobs then they can handle. Their clients
are the likes of SamSung and other large international
conglamerates.

So here is at least one small independent group of people who
are getting rich off developing and consulting Java apps.
