Jon,
The layoff were mainly ~260 managers over 50 that have been with the company a long time. High overhead salaries. Lots of MIS people. The DTV/HDTV engineers are still here. End to end solutions are not a consideration since the plant is far too complex and everyone has their own set of specs. Sony is as close to end to end as we get.
The main architects are still around, as am I. Compatability and interfacing are really fun!
