I just don't understand what's gone wrong with this market. I decided to put some money away for my retirement last winter, so I did some research about where to invest. I decided on a Nasdaq growth fund because:

compx reached 321 in Jan. '86.
It then doubled in 73 months to 642 in Mar. '92.
It doubled again in 57 months to 1283 in Dec. '96.
It doubled again in only 29 months to 2566 around May '99.
Finally, it doubled again in 10 months to 5132 in Mar. '00.
I invested 250k in January, so I should be almost a millionaire by now, shouldn't I? -g-

BTW, if anyone cares, a Linear Regression analysis from the start of this bull run beginning in '91 yields a current value of 1682 for compx. Of course, reversion to mean generally overshoots some, but how's that for a target? Got darts?
