Point of Reference: I saw in the NY Times an article stating that AT&T is paying $4500 per MediaOne subscriber, and Comcast got a "great deal" buying 2M customers from MediaOne for about $1500 per customer, just to go away. Isn't that an awful lot to pay for someone who is generating around $50 a month/$600 per annum in fees? I suppose the calculus is that these customers will buy the whole shebang from AT&T to the tune of $250+/month. That ignores, however, the huge costs of providing these bundled services and the fact that alot of the subscriber base were already AT&T customers, so you're not generating new revenue; you're just moving it from one pocket to another.
