Old line SS7 testing equipment company is setting its sights deeper into IP fabric.

Discontinuos Innovation:
Signaling transport platform that converge a circuit-switched network to a packet-based network.

Proprietary open architecture?
Released TALI source code to promote open network architecture for signaling over IP. Currently being considered by IETF as standard.

High Barriers to entry?
Tekelec is premier provider, with premier support. Owns 70% of US market. Competes with Alkatel overseas.

High switching costs?
Once platform integrated, QoS improves to point where customer fears switchout will reduce QoS, therefore revenue stream.

Value chain formation?
POTS, CLEC's, RBOC's and other telecom variations

Crossed chasm?
Telecom deregulation has put pressure on firms to offer rich features with QoS. Tekelec bridges this gap.

Tornado market?
Data traffic, telecom globilization.
