I don't see any ambiguity in his position either. But that's then and there and we're here and now. Two different environments.

Also, he was taking an opportunity to swipe at Labour for factoring behavior in. Of course he's ga-ga over equality when it provides an opportunity to paint the opposition as opposed to it. Hard to tell whether that was conviction or convenience.
