Additional categories can be useful, if we can identify a compelling feature set that distinguishes them. At the same time, we also need to remember that the categories we have are just a guide to understanding, not something that exists in a pure form in "nature". This Intel Gorilla/King debate is a good example. The ultimate point is not whether we collect more votes, counted or otherwise, for one label over the other, but the understanding we develop by exploring the issues which would lead us to call it one or the other. By trying different labels and criteria and "coloring in" what works and what doesn't, we arrive at a well rounded understanding of the company which we wouldn't have were we to simply plunk it in one bucket or the other.
