Time to stop whining about Rahm using crises to advance his agenda and start learning from him. What we had in the gulf was a failure of Federal regulators to do their job. How many cents/gallon represent the cost of complying with Federal regulations? We are simply not getting value for this money. And republicans ought to ram home this fact this fall. And not that republicans can run the regulators better. No. The model of relying on bureaucrats for our well being is fatally flawed and needs to be drastically pruned back. That's an idea that can be sold if they have the will.
