Durable goods orders down 5.5%; electronics orders down 9.9%. I expect this will cause analysts to engage in another round of cutting earnings estimates over the next few weeks. This should more than offset any potential upside of the Fed easing on rates or even bias. I'm reminded that the 1990 recession was probably deeper than it needed to be because the Fed was to slow in loosening after they had tightened to curtail inflation.
