DELL COMPUTER CORP said that its sales in Europe remain buoyant
and will continue to be healthy in 1999, spurred on by the Euro
and the millennium bug. The Round Rock, Texas-based company, which
announced that its global 3Q revenues rose 51% to $4.82 bln, said
Europe was its fastest growing area with a 68% sales gain. In a
telephone interview, Dell vice-chairman Mort Topfer said the
company was closing in on market leader COMPAQ COMPUTER CORP.
Sales over the Internet in Europe were becoming signficant.
