Shootie,

Thanks for the warning and update.....

A couple of observations:

1. Have your furnace checked out, every year, by a professional who knows what they are doing. This will not avoid all problems, for the furnaces can be defective or the ventilation improper. But it should help prevent problems which arise from lack of maintenance. The service people can perform a CO test to see if there is a problem at the time of the service call.

2. Don't just depend on the service person. Take Shootie's advice and wallpaper your house with CO detectors. CO is not like natural gas .... it is odorless. Gas that is piped to your house does have a smell added to it so you'll notice a leak before your family gets toasted, but with CO leaks you can't see 'em or smell 'em.

3. Shootie, I would be interested in your recommendation for CO detectors, and maybe a Web link if you have one to where they can be bought online. Thanks ....

OMD
