"There's No Business Like Small Business [Iain Murray]

This morning, the president announced his "Small Business Jobs Package." Surprise, surprise, it's all about increased bureaucracy and encouraging rent-seeking by offering more federal money. Doubtless the initiative to support banks that lend to small businesses will soon become support for banks that lend to small businesses that are environmentally responsible, use union labor, etc.

The president should be following the example of (gasp) David Cameron and his ConLib coalition in the U.K. For all that's bad about that coalition, they are doing some exceptionally good things that provide a model for real radicals over here. In particular, the business-deregulation agenda is one that should be adopted wholesale in a "liberate to stimulate" package. I describe it in more detail here."
