If you make $380K and live in NYC it's around 55% with very reasonable assumptions about property and sales tax. Above that it starts to go down unless you have a shopping disorder.

Friend of mine claimed he paid that, so I checked it out, ran some numbers. Turns out he was exaggerating a little, he only pays 50% because he lives in Rochester, N.Y., not NYC.
