ADVANCED LASER PRODUCTS INC. (ADLP)
Advanced Laser Products, Inc. (ADLP) trades on the OTC Bulletin Board. The Company has recently been transformed from a one product supplier of laser printer toner cartridges to a developer and marketer of world-class technology and technology applications. The Company's goal is to develop and license cutting-edge, high yield technologies that will make ADLP a driving force in the global technology marketplace. ADLP will bring to the market innovative products and services as well as unique applications of new and existing technologies. Each of ADLS's is a wholly-owned subsidiary with its own management, scientific/technical and marketing staffs. This allows for greater productivity and more effective management.
The original core business of ADLP is a laser printer toner cartridges. This is the current "cash cow" for the company and will remain the bulk of sales and earnings for 1996. The QS2000 toner cartridge provides 350% to 450% more copies from its patented enhanced toner distribution system and an extended toner reservoir. This cartridge works with every Hewlett Packard compatible laser printer, which stands at about 100 different printers, ADLP's unit not only outperforms the competition but they also extend the life and the reliability of the printer or fax. The QS2000 will be recyclable which may be a government mandate in the future. The units deliver up to a 450% increase in performance at only a 50% increase in price over the competition.
The Company will market these units through large catalog houses and nationwide office product distribution chains. ADLP will market direct to: Government, Fortune 500 companies, hospitals, colleges and the military. Estimates are for 850,000 of the large capacity and standard sized units, ADLP should net $.30-.40 per share from revenues for the next 12 months.
One of the new technologies brought into ADLP is the CYBERCARD. Using a proprietary voice recognition and authentication engine, the CYBERCARD becomes a valuable weapon in the war against credit card phone card fraud. By simply speaking their name and repeating a random authorization code, the identity of the cardholder can be verified. Unlike thumbprint or signature verification, voice authorization can be done over the telephone. An advantage to the credit card user is that authentication can be done when using the card over the telephone or when the physical card is not available. This technology is applicable to the phone card business which experienced over $2.5 billion in fraud in 1995. Additional areas where this technology has been used include: ATMs, Immigration, Food Stamp programs, Banking, Security and Police Identification.
The CYBERCARD has undergone extensive testing and will roll out in the third or fourth quarter of 1996. ADLP is currently designing the central host verification computer needed to support the huge number of transactions that will take place. Marketing models are being established and revenues from this system should start in the fourth quarter. I look for the CYBERCARD to add $.10 to earnings in 1996, but you will see a huge leap to the $.40-.50 range from this product alone in 1997.
The third division is the Global Assistant which brings together a blend of integrated technologies based on a modular platform, with optional hardware and accessories and third party applications for state of the art life management. The Global Assistant system is a small hand-held computer with basic software for managing and interrelating of information and functions. The unit may be equipped with a 2 way paging system for the Cellular Communicator, which gives the Global Assistant a complete range of voice, data fax, as well as cellular capabilities with seamless integration. When telephone lines are available there is a 28.8Kbps voice, data and fax modem. With extended life batteries, home and vehicle docking modules, Global Positioning System, and Personal Safety System, the Global Assistant is what was promised to us years ago when experts said we would have an inexpensive computer to manage our lives.
The features are just phenomenal. The Home Suite can control lighting, heating, air conditioning, security systems or any appliances or electronics. The unit can also summons medical or police assistance, do catalog shopping, track the location of a family member using GPS and send messages. The Office Productivity Suite allows transfer of files between home and office, perform research on the Internet without tying up office computers, send and receive E-mail, auto dialer, fax capability, Electronic business Card and built in security system.
The Global Assistant also offers vehicle security. Each time the vehicle is turned off, the Global Assistant erases the vehicle's on-board computer program. Absolutely no amount of "hot wiring" or force will make the engine run. Once reloaded the engine will start. The system will also circumvent the "averaging program" that the manufacturer puts in the car to operate all engines alike. Global Assistant has built in programs for various climates, driving conditions and driving styles. Lastly, with the GPS, and the 2-way paging or Cellular Interface, an emergency buttom can be pressed for help, or if the air bag has been activated, the system will summon help automatically. I look for revenues to come on line in late 1996 or early 1997.
The last division is the Optical Recordable Ball (ORB), which is a proprietary process of bonding thousands of microfine layers of optical material into a shere capable of retaining between 500 gigabytes and 25 terabytes very economically. The exact technology is behind this article, but needless to say, it could revolutionize the massive data storage field. I would look for the first product using this ORB technology in early 1997.
As you can see, the transformation of ADLP is quite complete. Any one of these technologies could be a stand alone company. As these technologies come to market, you will see a HUGE jump in earnings for ADLP. I look for $.40-.50 per share in the next 12 months primarily from the laser cartridges. When the other products come to market, I look for in excess of $1.00-1.25 for 1997. My short term target price is $8-10 with $12-14 over the next 12-15 months. I think Advanced Laser Products will be one of the biggest winners we have had to date.
