They should have simply grabbed the rudders of the boats and stopped them. This was a ham fisted approach that played right into the hands of the propagandists.

Hardly stupid. The low intensity solution had already worked on 5 or 6 other boats.

On this assault, I would have considered slowing down the assault and diverting some shooters on the birds to kill those assaulting the boarding force that had already landed.
Then continued the assault.

If I thought all or even many of my troops would be endangered by a second fast rope attempt, I would have sunk the vessel.

I commend the Israelis for this. None of them hesitated to leap into the fight even knowing they would be hit by steel pipes swung like baseball bats before getting to the deck.

It is a war you know.
