Yaacov: I am in the second school of thought. I want to build a foundation of great compainies for the future. I have heard of too many people chasing hot stocks and losing. I have noticed that there are plenty of people on these threads that talk about doubling their money in a few months. If I did not feel like working and wanted to drive a porsche then I might have to gamble like that. I don't know if I have mentinoned this before but I never really want to retire, i.e. not work at all. What I would like to do is spend the next fifteen years in private practice making very good money and investing wisely. Then at the age of 45 I would like to switch to an academic teaching position. I will still have a good salary but an incredible lifestyle(many vacations and little stress.) Not to mention continued benefits and contributions to 401-k. Also, my wife is a freelance illustrator and graphic designer (maybe one day I will e-mail you guys some stuff from her portfolio if I can figure out how). She is incredibly talented and will be very succesfull one day. All in all it is a wonderfull life.

You must be asking yourself then why was JT in such a panic yesterday? To answer that you have to understand me. I am a B type personality overall and very relaxed. As a physician I am incredibly anal and pay very close attention to detail. I do not like to be wrong and I do not like to lose. I have been looking at my portfolio like my fantasy baseball team, wanting to tweak it for best performance. This not a competition and not a race. We will all be winners in the end investing in INTC,MSFT,KO,Merck,J&J etc along with a few selected riskier stocks. Sorry for the long response.
