I am truly happy that you have found faith, practice it, and it makes life for you and those you come in contact with better people....that comes through to me.
As you probably know, or have thought about, to bring along converts, the "new" faith or "new covenant" has to contain elements of the established faith.
Paul would have to appeal to the Jews who were not observant or those who were not satisfied in their present faith and were open to new ideas, even if the new ideas were repackaged ideas.
This would explain why Saul would make reference to the Hebrew scriptures to appeal to the Christian converts.
There is a sterling example of this phenomenon in Friday's Wall Street Journal, Weekend Journal Section, p.W15, "Kosher Christianity".
