IBM has selected a customized version of Emulex's LightPulse LP9002 host bus adapter (HBA) to provide the Fibre Channel storage for its new eServer iSeries. IBM eServer iSeries is a business server for small to mid-sized companies.
The Emulex line of HBAs features standards-based connectivity solutions for Fibre Channel and Internet protocol (IP) storage networking environments.

The Emulex 66MHz PCI LP9002 is designed to allow the migration to the latest 2Gb/s Fibre Channel SANs, while maintaining backwards compatibility and interoperability with legacy 1Gb/s installations. The LP9002 is also compatible with drivers and software written for its LP8000 and LP7000E host bus adapters.

The Emulex line of IP-based storage networking host bus adapters includes the new GN9000/SI iSCSI HBA, the GN9000/VI VI/IP, the CL1000 and CL5000/5300 cluster switches.

The Emulex GN9000/SI is designed to provide iSCSI connectivity over gigabit Ethernet for PCI-based systems. The Emulex GN9000/VI VI/IP HBA allows network attached storage (NAS) appliances and hosts to exchange file system data over IP networks.
