Manchester City today confirmed the signing of exciting attacking midfielder, David Silva. After enjoying World Cup glory with Spain, the former Valencia man passed a medical at Eastlands and finalised a 4 year deal.

With the departure of Martin Petrov, and the speculation that Shaun Wright-Phillips and Stephen Ireland could be on their way out of Manchester City too, we’re in need of midfield options in the attacking sense.

We expect Silva to be joined by a host of other players as the world’s richest club flexes their muscles in the transfer market. But the coup of signing such a world class midfielder outside Champions League football shows that exciting times are ahead.

Silva said, “I’m very happy with what we did this summer – it’s the best time that any player can have,” Silva told the club’s official website.

“I am looking forward to starting the season with my new team, I’m excited about my new team.

“And I will be happy if at the end we are in the Champions League – or if we win a trophy.
