Cisco Systems Up In After-Hours Trading

NEW YORK -- Shares of Cisco Systems Inc. (CSC) rose sharply in after-hours trading
after falling during the regular trading session.

Cisco Systems reported earnings after the close Tuesday of 55 cents a share, compared
with 42 cents a year ago and a First Call Inc. consensus estimate of 55 cents a share.
However, investors had whispered that earnings might approach 58 cents a share.

Cisco Systems shares were trading at 83 9/16, up 3 3/16 from their Wednesday close of 80
3/8.

Shares of Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) fell slightly in late trading in the wake of its $150 million
investment in Apple Computer Inc. (AAPL).

Microsoft shares were trading at 143 1/8, down 5/16 from its close of 143 7/16. The shares
rose 1/8, or 0.1%, in regular market activity.

Apple shares were up 1/16 to 26 3/8. The shares soared 6 9/16, or 33.2%, to 26 5/16 on
heavy volume during the trading day.
