Jfred...And some of us grew up watching this man's life in the newspapers and newsreels of the day. I'd just reached the level of some awareness when war broke out, but still have vivid memories of B-17's minus a wing spinning out of control toward the ground, of the slaughter at places like Monte Cassino, Anzio, and Tarawa, of the Hood taking a shell in her magazine, of the London Blitz, of the fiery destruction of Dresden. If today those memories are still etched in my mind, I know that I can't begin to understand what it must have been like to have seen them first-hand. That must have been the period when I first discovered that the world is populated with madmen.
