Maybe, maybe not. Employee paychecks will be 7.5% bigger. Employer tax bills will be 7.5% smaller. With far simpler revenue generation the SS bureaucracy will shrink. The huge new expense in the general fund will force the Senate to tighten their belts. It might also cut the crap we hear from Democrats every election cycle about Republicans wanting to cut or eliminate SS. Those who REALLY want to cut SS will be obvious to all by their votes for/against the budget that lands on the President's desk. These are just a few of the positive things I can think of. Please tell me why this is a bad/unpopular idea. I'm open.
