Ted: No I wasn't at the Cisco User's Group Meeting. Unfortunately, being just a lawyer there would be no reason for me to attend. For future reference, could I even get into a meeting like that?

Both CSCO and SUNW are awesome companies that make great products and rarely disappoint their shareholders. As I am sure you have, I have owned both stocks.

As for a merger of the two, I doubt if it is a near-term possibility given the fact that CSCO will be preoccupied for STRM for the next several months. Beyond that who knows, although you have to also consider whether the head of either company would be interested in selling out or playing the number two role. Also, given the relative market capitalizations, who would buy who?

For now, all I can say is SUNW picked the right networking partner. It increases the prospect that SUNW will pull off reinventing itself as a networking and intranet company. As for CSCO, it will make bucket loads of money working with SUNW.

I have to confess that I have slowly been selling off my networking and other high tech stocks over the last month. Today, I sold off the last of my CSCO shares. While I have made a tidy profit on this and prior sales, my feelings are rather mixed at this point. I already miss having my CSCO shares as I do my shares of FORE. I sure hope I can buy them back later at a lower price.
