That's interesting -- I've looked at going to Panama a few times just to check it out. Some in-laws have been there but they pretty much confined themselves in Panama City, and I suspect that's a rather sterile view

My understanding was that the coastal areas were not well developed, so I'm intrigued by your beaches comment -- I was unaware there were any major beach areas to speak of. The canal expansion project I am assuming is providing somewhat of an economic underpinning. If one was to spend e.g. a week in Panama, where would you tell them to go in order to get the best sense of the country?
