Dear Sparky: Mr. Zalenski (CEO) made the comment I believe on Friday that BOCI's factory floor is covered with "thousands" of 56k modems. He made the decision not to ship as there is ONE glitch left and he is awaiting ROCKWELLS FIX. This glitch, whatever it is, cannot yet be estimated as to whether it can be fixed by software or require a hardware change--thus he did not ship in order not to irritate customers if it turns out that it will require a hardware fix (thus necessitating reshipment back to the factory). I think that showed long term responsible management. Hayes, on the other hand went ahead a shipped betting that the problem is a simple software correctible one. Time will eventually tell which decision was correct but I for one feel that BOCI did the prudent thing. Yes this 3/31 quarter will stink as not only were no 56k shipped but orders dropped on the other modems as customers are awaiting the 56k. Finally, I read somewhere that the Rockwell Standard will likely eventually become the standard for modems. Can anyone comment on this. jdn
