Virtual Marketing Introduces Wireless Internet Technology Called Viperlink
LOUISVILLE, Ky., Nov. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The Virtual Marketing Corporation, a Louisville-based Internet marketing, telecommunications and networking company, announces its proprietary wireless Internet technology called ViperLink.
The Virtual Marketing Corporation, or VMC, can now supply Louisville-area businesses and residences with high-speed digital Internet access at a fraction of the cost of traditional Internet access. Currently VMC can provide Internet access speeds of up to 6Mbps, completely wireless without the need of any telephone connections, local loop charges or routers.
ViperLink, Virtual Marketing's wireless technology, will allow businesses to provide Internet access over their existing computer network without purchasing any additional equipment. ViperLink acts as an intelligent bridge and packet relay network to allow packets to travel to VMC's local Internet network hub and then out to the backbone. Because ViperLink is wireless and needs no dedicated circuits, there is massive increase in redundancy, reliability, speed and performance.
VMC sells the service by the amount of the bandwidth the customer needs, starting at 128K and going to 6Mbps. This service is not limited to businesses only; individual consumers and very small organizations can buy ViperLink at less than half the cost of traditional ISDN service.
Virtual Marketing company chairman Jeff Wellemeyer says, "We are excited about the opportunities that this technology is bringing to Louisville. We plan to have ViperLink available in Atlanta, Chicago, Houston and San Francisco by year-end, and we will be introducing it to the international market starting the first quarter of `97."
With all the upside, there must be some downside, and there is. A customer must be located within six miles of the closest VMC network VPOP "Virtual Point of Presence." In Louisville this covers almost all of metro downtown, most of Hurstbourne Business Park and Bluegrass Research and Industrial Park in Jeffersontown.
