Wouldn't the fire dept that contracts to provide service just lease the already existing fire houses and all of the equipment in El Segundo? We have our own fire house, but after becoming a city in 1993 and developing our own police force the city found the costs too onerous. The town disbanded the force and now contracts with the county Sheriff Dept. They have assigned 6 officers who rotate patrol and have an office in our city hall. Response times have not changed.
