The people who orchestrated the NTW merger are convicted criminals. Rubner clearly knew about this, as he is unwilling to reveal how he linked up with them.

I noticed that they didn't trash the N2W tech

Since the technology is little more than a rumor, it would be difficult to do anything but speculate about it. Obviously, though, if the technology was so great, they wouldn't be financing it via con men.
