SST EXPANDS ITS MULTI-PURPOSE FLASH FAMILY WITH FOUR NEW FLASH MEMORY DEVICES NEW
HIGH-SPEED ADDITIONS TO MPF FAMILY REACH ACCESS SPEEDS OF 45 ns

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Jun 28, 1999 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- SST (Silicon Storage Technology, Inc.), (Nasdaq: SSTI) today added four
new high-speed devices to its 39 series, Multi-Purpose Flash (MPF(TM)) family of SuperFlash(R) EEPROM products. The four new devices,
ranging in densities from 512 Kbit to 4 Mbit, are available in x8 configurations and use a single voltage supply of 3.0V to 3.6V for read,
program and erase. The fast read speed of the new devices at 45 and 55 ns make them an ideal solution for CD-ROMs, modems, networking
adapter cards, DECT phones and other communication applications. As important, customers that prefer to use 3.0V flash memory devices
can now do so without sacrificing the performance that they have come to expect from 5.0V operation.

The new high-speed MPF flash memory products join SST's existing MPF product family, which consists of devices ranging in densities from
512 Kbit to 16 Mbit. In April of this year, SST announced the industry's fastest 3.0V, 16 Mbit flash memory device at 55 ns. SST's new
high-speed MPF devices, like all members of the MPF family, are based on the core feature set of the MPF family -- a family that was
created using a fine granularity architecture, small sector erasability and the simple CMOS-compatible manufacturing process of SST's
SuperFlash technology. The superior reliability of SST's SuperFlash technology delivers a typical 100,000 cycles endurance and more than
100years data retention.

"SST's new high-speed MPF devices are evidence of our commitment to providing customers with flash memory at unprecedented access
speeds," said Kumar Prabhat, marketing manager at SST. "We see a need for high-speed 3V flash memory in several applications where
customers continue to use 5V parts because of the lack of readily-available high-performance 3V flash. Customers will additionally benefit
from the easy density upgradability within thisMPF family without the need for system board layout change." According to Prabhat, the faster
programming and erase also results in a reduced manufacturing cycle time and therefore lowers the manufacturing cost.

Key Features of New High-Speed MPF Products Like all members of SST's MPF family, the new high-speed x8 versions use a sector
erase/byte programming scheme. By providing an optimized feature set, SST was able to create a new architecture that addresses the
industry's mainstream applications more cost-effectively. Key features of the new MPF products include:

* 3.0V-3.6V only for read, program and erase
* Uniform small sector architecture of 4 KByte
* Access speed -- 45 nanoseconds (ns) for 512 Kbit and 1 Mbit
55 nanoseconds (ns) for 2 Mbit and 4 Mbit
* Fast programming and erase - 20 microseconds/Byte for
programming;
25 milliseconds (ms) for sector erase and 100 milliseconds (ms)
for chip
erase. The fast program and erase operation results in a reduced
manufacturing cycle time and hence lowers the manufacturing cost.
* Superior reliability with SST's SuperFlash technology
- Typical 100,000 cycles endurance and more than 100 years of
data
retention
* JEDEC standard command set and package/pinout for ease of use
and quick
installation
- 32-pin PLCC
- 32-pin TSOP (8 mm x 14 mm)

Pricing and Availability Sample quantities are currently available with production scheduled to begin in Q3 of this year.
