Northern Rock set for state ownership Created: 18 February 2008 Written by: John Adams The saga of Northern Rock is at last reaching a conclusion after the government announced plans to temporarily nationalise the stricken mortgage bank. In preparation for the move, Northern's shares have now been suspended - at just above 90p - and the government is to rush through legislation to enable the nationalisation to take place.
