Aptech launches Vidya, a multi-lingual course

Aptech Computer Education, the training division of Aptech Limited, has launched Vidya, a multilingual course which gives each Indian the opportunity to become computer literate.

Vidya has been specially priced at Rs 950 and will be offered through over 850 centers all over India in English, Hindi, Gujarati, Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, Tamil and Telegu.

Launched as part of Aptech's National Literacy Drive program, this course aims at helping meet the National IT Task Force direction of a computer literate India by 2000.

With the launch of Vidya, Aptech hopes to create a massive base of competent computer users in all walks of life at the village, taluka, district and city level.

Pramod Khera, Executive Director, Aptech Limited said, 'Aptech has fully supported the nation's endeavor to promote computer literacy and we believe access to computer education should be available to every citizen of India.'

'Our estimate is that to meet the stated goal of $50 billion of software revenue by 2008, India will need over 750,000 computer professionals. Vidya is our contribution to this effort', he said.

Vidya consists of specially designed modules that will give each participant the core skills to productively use computers for business, office functions, education and communication.

Corporate executives, members of government, self-employed professionals, traders, housewives, farmers and students are likely to find the course equally interesting.

For the convenience of participants of the Vidya program, Aptech centers have reserved special time slots and will remain open till 11 pm to enable more learning opportunity.
