It retails for a thousand plus $80 for the software.

So at $559 I was in at 50%. At $700 I was getting to where it was a frill.

I doubt if Woow is a shill; APC wants to get rid of these oddball units, not jerk around for 50 bucks more or less. That unit wasn't salable because it was black, for example.

Besides, as time goes on they improve and closeout the older models. Then the prices on the old ones drop further. That Rack Mounted Unit they started at $600 or $700 the other day retailed for over $2000. The difference on that was that it was modified with a longer cord. Too low a price to futz around with a shill, I think.

Also, the bidding drove up over 50 bucks in 5 minutes, literally to within 30 or 40 seconds of the Closeout. I don't know that a reasonable shill would have tried to put in a bid with 30 seconds left on the odd chance that APC would make 5 bucks. In other words, throw away a sure $699 taking the chance that they might get $704.

No, I don't think it's a logical assumption. Besides, as far as people's memories go, these aren't items that the usual consumer buys every week. If I picked it up it might be years before I was interested in another. If I'm bidding against junkyards.....small electrical houses who are buying this stuff to resell in their stores....then they know the value of it and would not be fooled by a shill upping the bid either.
