Pat, I agree with being nimble, done that. I am just trying to time this,<gg>, believe it or not, and it's a thankless job. The question is when do you sell NN? I note Samg's opinion earlier today about Briefing Com's opinion. I tend to disagree with that and agree more with you.
I believe the bad news is built into the price .You don't run up a stock 50% if you REALLY think there will be earning disappointments: you got to be off your rocker.
"A sale to a major US telco" sent the price up and people will sell on the news.Possible. But the whole point here is that there are MULTIPLE telcos allover the place. Do we know when they will order? No.
That ought to keep NN bubbling for a long time. I understand that Telcos order in Jan, since their year runs Jan to Dec. The MAJOR point however, I think, is that telcos have NOT been ordering equipment in the US even after the Telecom bill passed in Congress because the baby Bells don't want to spend money on it and then be forced to lease their lines/equipment to AT&T at alleged " beggar's prices " ( the Baby Bells claim, GG ).
I think however that what TM said about 1998 will likely be true, ie, that he thinks there will be " sparks this year " flying as "everybody " will try to upgrade so they won't be left behind. It is now clear that there is an Internet explosion of almost cosmic proportions, involving voice, video and data.It is clear that every Tom, Dick and Harry want a piece of the pie, including not only the Bells and AT&T, but the cable companies, the Utilities want to sell too, satellites and wireless, foreign companies that want to go International. bottom line is that in technology the best technology usually wins. ATM is clearly the best in broad bandwidth, with NN at the helm. And so I think we've waited now 2 years after the passage of the Telecom bill, and as Arnold (Schwrtzenegger )would say, " your time is up ", i.e. NN is ready to take off; it may not be a good idea to try and time this stock now, sell, hoping to buy back later at lower prices: they may never come.
