TRINITY WELL RECOGNIZED BY COLOMBIA, S.A. Officials Designate 'new field discovery'
BROWNWOOD, Texas -- July 14, 1997 -- Trinity Gas Corporation's (Nasdaq/BB:TRGC) Palmira 1 drilling site, near the city of Cali, Colombia, S.A., has been officially designated a "new field discovery" by several notable Colombian political officials during a visit to the drilling site.
The mayor of Palmira, Guillermo Cabal Velez, was quoted in El Pies: La Region (July 5, 1997) as saying that the success of the well would be a boon to local residents.
"We need to confirm the existence of gas in Palmira, although we still haven't yet realized the great potential of this well, he said. Trinity Gas Corporation's president and chief executive officer, Sid Sers, said his company had made every effort to keep all drilling information confidential prior to the site visit by Colombian officials.
Velez also is excited about the social domestic benefits that the well will bring. Trinity has earmarked part of the profits from its operations to improve the social infrastructure of the Cauca Valley.
These "social dividends" would help build orphanages and homes for unwed mothers, help support children without homes or families, and supply initiatives to raise the education level of the citizenry.
Several other officials representing Ecopetrol also visited the site with Velez, including Ruben Dario Zafra, the general commercial manager of Lidagas, and officials with Ecopetrol, the National Oil Company of Colombia.
Trinity's Palmira 1 well is located in the San Jose Hacienda in Colombia's gas-rich Cauca Valley. Mud logs from the well continue to show more gas than predicted.
The Palmira 1 drilling site includes more than 600 square miles that Trinity has under contract with the Faralones Association. Ecopetrol is an equal partner with Trinity under this contract. |
