you are quite correct - bulls are allowed to be wrong on WS. bears better be right, or they get the boot. i believe the bulls would only become despised if we had a 30's style bear that destroys 80-90% of the market's capitalization and doesn't recover for decades. and even then they would probably be excused due to some 'force majeure' perception. people would of course have different things to worry about by that time - but mutual fund would make the full round trip back to being a dirty word that no-one wants to hear, like it was in '74...
