SFAM

To put it simply, SFAM's small market share in its only significant product, CMP tools, and its weak financial position create the risk that an announcement by AMAT of a CMP tool upgrade which is clearly superior to the latest SFAM CMP tool will put SFAM out of business.

I am not predicting that this WILL happen, but AMAT has the resources to spend much more on R & D and they have already overtaken and far surpassed SFAM's former market share lead. There is a reasonable probability that it could happen.

Recently, when JDSU went from $5 to $6, I was called a "troll" by another ignored poster for suggesting that investments in JDSU should be avoided until its sales had stopped falling.

I am a little surprised that after what has happened in the market and the business world the past few years, my conservative, risk averse advice falls on so many deaf ears. I guess that is a tribute to my communication skills.<g> Fortunately, when I communicate with Datek, I only need the verbs buy/sell.
