Having an expensive $30K system on your roof to get blown off each year would be really hard to insure and be rather dangerous. Probably doesn't help the install costs either.

Not as bad as it seems; I've had a solar pool heater on my roof for 12 years and never a problem. And I imagine a PV installation would be a lot more sturdy.

I've always wanted to see a cost comparison between the cost of building a nuke plant and the cost of the equivalent installation of roof top residential and business solar feeding back into the grid. I'm sure the rooftop is still more expensive, but as solar efficiencies increase...

With the new nukes they are proposing in FL they are going to have to have a new swath across the state about a quarter mile wide to run the new power cables. How much does THAT cost?
