Sounds like just the kind of guy that should be in charge of…uh, “security”…outside a polling site. Yes, in case you haven’t been following this story, King Samir Shabazz is the baton-wielding, “cracker”-threatening Black Panther leader who the Obama DOJ pretty much let off the hook for voter intimidation. You know, this guy.
Politico has a piece up heralding an assertion by some Bush era appointee (which makes her a “conservative” of course) that all this focus on the New Black Panther Party isn’t really about them. That it’s really an attempt by conservatives to take down Eric Holder and inflict political damage on the President and his party.
Damn straight it is.
The fact that some fringe Black Panther kook fancies himself an agent of Osama Bin Laden in Amerikka is not that surprising. It’s mainly news because this is the very same guy who Eric Holder’s Justice Department decided to give a pass to.
[ Right, the wannabe punks in the NBPP aren't important in and of themselves .... what is, is that Obama and Holder choose to give them carte blanche to f*ck the law. ]
THIS guy.
Because apparently the Obama DOJ can’t be bothered to prosecute civil rights violations by black perpetrators. Even when the accused is clearly guilty and is as unsavory a character as Shabazz. (For additional examples of his unsavoriness I submit his Photobucket account with a SERIOUS ADULT CONTENT WARNING.)
Is the conservative media’s focus on this story out of proportion with the seriousness of the underlying crime? Yeah, probably. But the Administration has only themselves to blame. It was the actions of the DOJ which turned an open and shut case of voter intimidation into an opportunity for critics to raise serious questions about the Administration’s commitment to the rule of law.
Fox has come under withering criticism from liberals for their volume of coverage on this story, but the rest of big media has been only too willing to air virtually any accusation of racism or subversion against the Tea Party, even in cases where there was no evidence to back up the claim.
By way of contrast, here you have a local leader of a national political organization – an organization which supported the President’s election campaign - proudly aligning himself with Osama Bin Laden, rapping about busting cops with a bat, and calling for the overthrow of the government.
By the standards of the MSM (and even more so the liberal blogosphere), I’d say attacking the Administration for letting this nutcase off with barely a slap on the wrist is more than fair game. And Democrats might want to spend a little more time scrutinizing their own left flank when it comes to racism and sedition against the government.
